Before launching Array Mr. Saeed was a managing director of Citi in London, where he led the global electronic platforms, data and sales teams for the multibillion-dollar foreign-exchange business. Mr. Alaa Saeed has more than 16 years of experience at Citigroup in Foreign Exchange, Business Management, Banking, and Digital Finance.Relevant Skills and Experience
Mr. Saeed has a strong understanding of client, market and technology risks, and his responsibilities included participating in and chairing various management, risk and governance committees. He oversaw the teams responsible for millions of transactions and over $100bn of electronic client commerce per day, and participating in and chairing management, risk and governance committees. The flagship electronic solutions he and his team designed have won more than 90 industry awards.He has also been recognised by Business Insider as one of the Top 10 People Transforming Finance in Europe and by Financial News as one of the ‘Top 40 under 40 in Trading & Technology’ on numerous occasions.
To champion Bahraini talent, in 2021 he worked closely with Tamkeen and the Bahrain Economic Development Board to launch Citi’s global tech hub in Bahrain, aimed at employing a thousand Bahrainis in highly skilled technology roles.
Mr. Saeed received the Crown Prince’s International Scholarship in 2004 to study for a bachelor’s degree in philosophy and economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science, from which he graduated with first-class honours.

Usman has over 27 years of diverse international banking experience in emerging markets across the EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, of which for the last 14 years he has held various senior leadership roles as CEO, Managing Director, Board Member and Executive Chairman covering Corporate & Investment Banking, Capital Markets, Commercial, Consumer and Islamic Banking in London, Hong Kong, UAE, Philippines, Pakistan, Bahrain and Malaysia.
Prior to joining NBB, he was the CEO and an Executive Board Director of Citi Malaysia, leading over 5,200 employees. Mr. Ahmed was also the Executive Chairman of Citigroup Global Markets Malaysia and concurrently responsible for the Citi Solutions Centres hubs for AML, Securities Services and Cash & Trade operations, covering over 50 countries across the globe.
He has also been the CEO and Managing Director of Citi Bahrain, Kuwait & Qatar, while concurrently being the Global Head of Citi Islamic Banking, based in Bahrain.
As the Chief Operating Officer & Managing Director for Citi’s Asia Pacific Corporate Bank in Hong Kong and the Corporate and Investment Banking Head for Citi in Philippines, Usman was extensively involved in leading strategy and client coverage in Asia after the global financial crisis.
While at Barclays Bank Plc. Usman led a team of over 1,100 client coverage and Transaction Banking product professionals across 14 countries in the MENA, Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia regions as the Head of Corporate & Commercial Banking for Emerging Markets, based in Dubai.
As part of his Capital Markets Origination responsibility in the Citi London EMEA team, Usman has originated, structured and executed some of the largest and most innovative conventional and Islamic financing transactions for the Middle East region. He was also designated as a Senior Credit Officer of Citi for over 9 years.
